No Return Part X

“Why did you bring me out here again?” asked Loziras.

“So we could be alone of course,” responded his companion.

“God I hate it how you elves have this way of answering questions without ever answering!”

“And that’s why you love me isn’t it?” she teased. Continue reading

No Return Part IX

“I must hand it to you Yuriel, you are truly amazing,” said Mikhail over his glass.

“Why thank you Mikhail,” said Yuriel.  “What’s bothering you?” Yuriel asked Craet seeing his far-off look.

“I just can’t help feel that we should have told her.”

“You mean about Loziras?” asked Crüxt.

“Right on the money,” said Layfen.  Most of the expedition was gathered in the large central hut. Continue reading

No Return Part VIII

“Can I ask you something Môràh,” began Lyn.

“Depends on what it is,” she replied.

“It’s about Loziras…or rather something Credance said about him.”

“What do you mean?” Continue reading

No Return Part VII

“So let me sure I understand you correctly,” began Môràh again.  “Cred has more or less fallen head over heels?”

“Understatement if anything,” corrected Loziras as they sat in the loft.

“Well…this should be most amusing to observe when he returns,” replied Môràh.

“HEY LOVE BIRDS!” called up Lyn.  “You two done up there yet?” Continue reading

No Return Part VI

The sun’s rays played across the two blades as they came together in a resounding clash of steel.  The two combatants spun away from one another before re-engaging.  Loziras’ sword swept down from above his head and sliced the air that Lyn had occupied.  The girl darted back in and stabbed at Loziras, but he had seen it coming.  His great sword had already started to arc back up before she had moved.  Again the two blades met. No Return Part V

“Let me make sure I heard you correctly,” started Credance.  “You actually intend to teach that despicable thing?”

“Yeah why?”

“Well did you consider Môràh’s response to this idea?”

“Uh how long do I have?” Continue reading

No Return Part IV

“It seems that you have a talent for causing trouble,” grumbled Mikhail.  Craet looked up as his brother spoke.  Öyre and Crüxt marched into the tent with a defeated Lyn between them.  “Do I want to know what happened?”

“Probably not,” responded Crüxt.

“But you’re going to tell me anyway, right?”

“More than likely,” mused Craet. Continue reading

No Return Part III

“Where are we?” asked Craet.  They had entered one of the many thickets within the plains.

“Home brother.”  The trees parted to reveal a riverside clearing within which was a scattered village.  As they trooped into it, the doors to the huts and hovels opened.  The people stopped short upon seeing the strangers among their men.  Then something changed when they saw Craet.  Some turned away, others looked cross at him, while a few seemed pleased to see him. Continue reading

No Return Part II

Despite their early rise, our heroes found their pursuers hot on their trail.  They were still three leagues short of the turn, but the Igolu remained a league behind them, and were slowly closing the distance.

“No doubt about it now,” said Craet.  “They’ll easily catch us before the Corner.”

“Well no one can say we didn’t try,” said Yuriel.  The company halted and turned to face the Igolu. Continue reading
